One of the greatest joys of owning a lakeside home is being able to experience the outdoor environment around you. While an uninsulated “open” porch will allow ventilation of outside air and allow you to hear the natural beauty that’s around you, it offers little protection from insect or heat in warmer months, and may be unusable in the winter.
Typical casements or hung windows can alleviate these issues, but can obstruct an otherwise majestic view. Parrett’s bifold window systems are available with up to 16 panels total, in both inswing and outswing configurations, and with a variety of operable screen systems.
This recent remodeling project consisted of redesigning a porch, which included providing the insulation needed to turn it into a “four seasons” room. Parrett four-panel outswing bifolds with sliding screen systems were incorporated alongside stationary picture windows below. These window units featured an extruded aluminum clad exterior with a custom AAMA 2605 (kynar) paint color and factory stain & clear coated white oak interiors.
Without a doubt, the most unique Parrett unit on the project is the aluminum clad french door unit which featured a recessed panel at the bottom of each sash that included a custom-designed artwork reminiscent of the nearby lake. A set of two white oak door panels were the perfect canvas for this Northwoods fishing scene. Parrett created a striking, one-of-a-kind design by utilizing a two-tone stain & clear coat finish to create a three dimensional representation of this artwork.
